What You Must Have When Building a Custom Home

If you Google “must haves when building a custom house,” you’ll uncover lists of what *other* people believe to be must-haves in their own homes. These lists, however, may not include items that you feel are essential in your own dream house.

A must-have for one individual may be something you don’t care about… so don’t include it on your list of places to splurge. This is YOUR home, and it should represent YOUR preferences and requirements.

In this blog article, I’ll give a long list of things other individuals thought were vital in their houses. Keep in mind that this list is only intended to get your wheels going. Finally, your list of must-haves in YOUR future house is determined by YOU and what your family is NOT prepared to sacrifice.

Wrap up

All of the above suggestions are great must haves’ for someone, but they aren’t always must-haves for your family… and that’s fine!

Just because one person thinks something is a must-have in their home doesn’t mean you have to have it… especially if it’s not something you care about (e.g. wine storage or large bedrooms).

Use the list above as a starting point, but ultimately, your list of must-haves in your future house is up to YOU! We advise you to take out a piece of paper (or a new Google Doc) and start making a list of your must-haves while designing a bespoke home.
